Stephen A. Smith loves the attention but he had to take a backseat on SportsCenter to a group of dancers who video bombed him.
Anyone who has watched ESPN over the years knows how much Stephen A. Smith loves to have the spotlight on him. The bombastic hot-take-disher from First Take and veteran NBA commentator has never shied away from the camera.
So, it had to be a big disappointment for Stephen A. when he wasn’t the focus of everyone’s attention after the Cleveland Cavaliers trounced the Toronto Raptors in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
He was giving his postgame analysis on SportsCenter when he was upstaged by a group of dancers in the background who broke out the running man and everything to steal the attention away from Stephen A.
Considering the way LeBron James and the Cavs totally dismantled Kyle Lowry and the Raptors in the opening game to improve to 9-0 in the NBA Playoffs this year, the dance troupe was more entertaining than Game 1.
I especially loved how Stephen A. turns his head to see what people are looking at while he’s giving his spin on the Cavs win. I’m willing to bet he didn’t expect to see a couple of adult men doing the running man, the robot and other hilarious dance movies.
If I had any sort of coordination at all, I would try to sneak on the court and deliver a similar video bomb myself, but I’d probably end up getting arrested and that’s not a good look.
