5 reasons J.T. Barrett can win the 2016 Heisman
5. Urban Meyer, molder of quarterbacks
Urban Meyer has an eye for talent at the quarterback position. He’s arguably one of the top-two or three coaches in all of college football and the success of a team begins under center. The quarterback is the most important position on the field, and if there was one coach who’s known for molding gunslingers, it’s Meyer.
Heck, all you have to do is look at the job he did with Cardale Jones who came into the 2014 season as the third-string quarterback and wound up winning the Big Ten title game, first round matchup in the first-ever College Football Playoff against Alabama and then the national title game against Oregon.
Not many coaches can lose their starting quarterback before the season begins, appoint a true freshman starter and lose him before the most important stretch of the season and still win the national title, but Meyer made it look easy.
With his second complete season as the starter, we will see J.T. Barrett finally blossom into one of the nation’s top quarterbacks, with a little guidance from Meyer. He has shown he’s the most dynamic quarterback in the Big Ten in limited time, but he will break out in 2016.
