Here are five reasons why Tim Lincecum sadly will not see a career resurgence with the Angels.

The Los Angeles Angels, desperate for starting pitching, decided to take a risk by signing free agent starting pitcher Tim Lincecum. Considering how bad the Angels rotation has been without C.J. Wilson and Garrett Richards, it’s an extremely justifiable risk. At this point, the Angels need to be trying everything to improve their rotation. Adding a two-time Cy Young Award winner and a three-time World Series Champion to the mix certainly can’t hurt.

However, Tim Lincecum is not “The Freak” that he used to be. Gone are his days of seemingly effortlessly blowing away hitters with his incredible velocity and breaking balls. Since his velocity has disappeared, Lincecum hasn’t come close to repeating his numbers from when he won consecutive Cy Young Awards and seemed Cooperstown bound.

Lincecum is a fun guy to root for. He has an easy going personality and he has a resume that includes being a big game pitcher. All of that said, Lincecum made a mistake by going to the Angels if there truly were multiple MLB teams interested in him. While he will certainly get an opportunity to start, there are five reasons why Tim Lincecum won’t flourish with the Angels.
