The Angels are getting closer to agreeing to terms with two-time NL Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum.

The Los Angeles Angels have been looking to add to their rotation. It comes as no surprise that they are expected to agree to terms with starting pitcher Tim Lincecum. Lincecum threw for at least 20 MLB teams back in May and the Angels immediately emerged as favorites to sign him. They are expected to quickly agree to a contract with him that should pay Lincecum about $2 million not including incentives according to USA Today.

UPDATE:

Lincecum should immediately help the Angels, who have been struggling since losing ace Garrett Richards. It remains to be seen if he will be able to pitch in the American League at this stage in his career after offseason hip surgery, but he is a more proven option than most of the pitchers in their rotation right now.

The Angels currently find themselves in fourth place in the American League West. However, not all hope is lost. They should be getting pitcher C.J. Wilson back sometime in the summer and Tyler Skaggs should be coming back as well. Richards might not miss the entire season since he is trying out a stem cell treatment instead of getting Tommy John Surgery.

Lincecum has a history of success and he has learned how to pitch despite having a decreased velocity. He is expected to spend some time in the minors in order to get himself in game shape and could be making his debut sometime in June.
