We take a look at how many cars are in the annual NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race, being held this Saturday at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Saturday night, under the lights of one of the sports’ most well known tracks, drivers from across NASCAR will take part in the annual Sprint All-Star Race. The 32nd addition of the race will take place from CharlotteĀ Motor Speedway for the 30th straight time.

When the green flag drops for the 113 lap event, there will be 20 drivers who will be gunning for the championship and the $1 million prize. That is the set amount of drivers each year, though it can be extended under certain circumstances.

So far, 15 drivers have been decided for the race (including 11 previous winners of the event). The number of qualified drivers is actually 16, but Jeff Gordon has decided not to race in the event after retiring following the 2015 season.

The remaining spots will be decided two ways. Three more drivers will be known based on the winners of the three Sprint Showdown races that will be held at the track on Friday. The final two spots will be filled by the top vote getters in the NASCAR fan poll.

The 15 drivers who already qualified either did so by winning the event before, having won a past NASCAR Sprint Cup championship or won a race during the 2015 or 2016 seasons.

The 32nd NASCAR Spring All-Star Race will take place Saturday, May 21st at 7pm and will be televised live on FOX Sports 1.
