Ryan Callahan got rewarded for an excellent effort pressuring the Penguins with a tip-in off a shot from his teammate Victor Hedman early in Game 4.

The Tampa Bay Lightning needed to come out with a ton of energy in Game 4. They did exactly that by scoring 27 seconds into Game 4.

Ryan Callahan started the goal by pressuring Penguins defenseman Trevor Daley and forward Chris Kunitz into an ill-advised turnover. Initially, it was thought that Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman had scored. However, perhaps in a showing of good karma, Callahan tipped in Hedman’s shot.

Callahan fully deserved that goal solely for the pressure on Daley and Kunitz. That pressure really got the play started and the goal simply doesn’t happen without that pressure. Karma rarely shows itself in the sport of hockey, but it did in this case. An excellent shot by Hedman and an even better tip-in by Callahan to give the Lightning an early 1-0 lead in Game 4.

The Lightning will need to keep that pressure going if they want to beat the Penguins. Tampa Bay has not done a good job of pressuring Murray consistently during the series, especially not early. It appears that they are applying pressure early in Game 4, but that pressure must stay.
