We answer the question of whether Jeff Gordon will race in this year’s NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race this Saturday in Charlotte, North Carolina.

This Saturday night, 20 of the top drivers in NASCAR will be on the track at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the annual Sprint All-Star Race. The annual event will feature drivers who have qualified based on past wins in the race, wins during the past two seasons or Sprint Cup titles, to name a few ways.

One driver who qualified for this year’s race in all three ways is legendary NASCAR veteran Jeff Gordon. A three time winner of the event (and a  four time winner of the Sprint Cup), Gordon also won a race last season and was one of the final four drivers racing for the championship.

Gordon came up short at Homestead-Miami Speedway in what was his final race on the NASCAR circuit. While he is eligible for the event, Jeff Gordon has decided not to participate on the track for the 2016 race. Instead, he will be in the broadcast booth as part of his new role with FOX Sports.

A similar question will come into play for the 2017 race, as Tony Stewart will be retiring following this season but will still be eligible for the field as a former winner of the event and the Sprint Cup.

The 32nd NASCAR Spring All-Star Race will take place Saturday, May 21st at 7pm and will be televised live on FOX Sports 1.
