Preakness Stakes 2016: What time does the Preakness Stakes start?
A look at what time the 2016 Preakness Stakes will start on Saturday, May 21
Nyquist was the winner of the first leg of the Triple Crown earlier in May, but now the colt has much bigger things hopefully on the horizons. The next step in those big plans with the Triple Crown front and center is to go to Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, MD on Saturday evening for the 2016 Preakness Stakes.
As all horse racing fans know, the Preakness Stakes is the shortest race of the three races in the Triple Crown. Not only does that make it the quickest, but it also makes you wonder what could happen when it comes to Nyquist trying to follow in the footsteps of American Pharoah last year by winning the Triple Crown as he won’t have as much time to make up ground if he falls behind.
Though the field for the Preakness Stakes is substantially smaller than that of the Kentucky Derby, a familiar face like Exaggerator is still in the mix and looking to make noise in the Preakness Stakes and get back a win from Nyquist. All in all, this is shaping up to be a fun race in what could be a neck-and-neck Triple Crown race.
With that, though, casual horse racing fans may be wondering when they can catch the 2016 Preakness Stakes. The undercard races begin at 2:30 p.m. ET and the main races at 5 p.m. ET. However, the main event in the Preakness will be run at 6:45 p.m. ET. You won’t want to miss it!
