Who is singing the national anthem at the NASCAR All-Star Race?
A look at which music star will be performing the national anthem at the 2016 NASCAR All-Star Race
When it comes to NASCAR races there are a lot things that the fans look forward to. There is simply the thrill of the cars thunderously driving round, there are the high speeds and risky moves that come at the best tracks on the season, and then there are special events like the NASCAR All-Star Race. The last one finally happens on Saturday, May 21 as they take to Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Everything is different, bigger, and grander when it comes to the NASCAR All-Star Race. Not only is the format completely different from any other competition or race throughout the entire season, but there are also fewer drivers competing, more pomp and circumstance, and a lot of fun to be had.
One of the interesting stories heading into the NASCAR All-Star Race this year is that Tony Stewart will be telling drivers to start their engines from inside his car. That’s really a special twist to get him back in the car and then to have him part of the starting ceremony. With that being such a special moment before the race, though, fans might be asking what else special may be planned. Specifically, they could be asking who’s singing the national anthem.
The answer there is a semi-local star in Caleb Johnson. Johnson, from Asheville, NC, won the 13th season of American Idol and will bring his southern influenced rock style to the NASCAR All-Star Race and the national anthem!
