For both the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Golden State Warriors, Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals was going to be a hugely important contest. After the two teams split the first two games in the series at Oracle Arena, the series shifted to Chesapeake Energy Arena on Sunday night after a long hiatus with both squads jockeying for control in regards to getting one step closer to the NBA Finals.
Though the matchup remained close with the Thunder only slightly ahead after the first quarter and with things looking like the fans would be treated to another classic, Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook had other plans.
After Draymond Green was called for a Flagrant 1 after kicking Steven Adams in the groin, the Thunder seemed galvanized by the play and just started hammering the Warriors. OKC was attacking the rim, knocking down shots on the perimeter, dominating the glass, and really beating the Warriors in every facet of the game.
In the second and third quarters, the Thunder outscored the Warriors 83-52 and there was obviously no coming back from that in Game 3. Oklahoma City returned the favor after being thrashed in their last meeting and now are ahead 2-1 in the series with an upset clearly in sight.
