Russell Westbrook gets fancy with the fast break pass
By Ryne Prinz
If people don’t think Russell Westbrook is a “true point guard” by now, they never will.
While Russ’ explosive finishes and blinding speed catch the eyes of many, his playmaking ability is key to the Oklahoma City Thunder’s success. He drills his way into the heart of the defense and finds teammates for a dump off or a kick out. And he does it often, as he’s averaging 11 assists per game in these playoffs.
This particular pass in transition was a beauty.
Russ and Randy Foye run with a two-on-one advantage on Shaun Livingston. As Livingston shifts his attention to Westbrook, Russy throws a pass between his legs mid-stride to Foye. Now, Foye gets fouled, so it doesn’t technically count as an assist, but it does in our heart. (Editor’s Note: It also really should count as some type of assist. There really isn’t any reason for it not to.)

And as always, LET WESTBROOK BE WESTBROOK.
