Could Seth Rollins be returning on Sunday night at WWE Extreme Rules 2016?

One of the prevailing narratives in WWE over the past six months or so has been the litany of injures that the company has been forced to deal with. Perhaps the most harmful of those injuries, though, was to former WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Seth Rollins, when he blew out his knee back in November. However, the Architect of The Shield could finally be making his long-awaited return on Sunday, May 22 at the WWE Extreme Rules 2016 pay-per-view.

Just days after rumors began circulating that Rollins would be returning at the start of June at an episode of WWE Monday Night RAW, Seth Rollins himself started the rumblings early on the morning of Extreme Rules 2016 when he posted this on Facebook, addressing the champion in Roman Reigns:

Just several hours after that, Mike Johnson of PW Insider reported on an audio hotline (via Reddit) that Rollins’ schedule has been changed and that he will return to the road starting this weekend, adding that it’s “likely” that Seth will return at WWE Extreme Rules 2016 on Sunday night.

This would be huge for WWE at Extreme Rules. In the absence of guys like John Cena, Randy Orton, and Rollins, things have been a bit of a rollercoaster within the company. However, Seth will come back to a hero’s welcome almost surely and could instantly provide some interesting storylines to get started heading into the summer.

It’s all rumors still at this point, but be sure to keep your eyes peeled on Sunday night at WWE Extreme Rules 2016.
