The height of boredom in the NBA in the mid-2000s came in this seven-game snoozer between the San Antonio Spurs and Detroit Pistons. Perhaps the turning point was Robert Horry’s shot to win in overtime in Game Five.

Game Four though was the low point. The worst of the worst.

The Spurs shot 37.1 percent and posted a 82.9 offensive rating according to Basketball-Reference. The Pistons shot 45.6 percent themselves. They were hardly offensive juggernauts.

Lindsey Hunter scored 17 points off the bench to help the Pistons pull away behind a balanced scoring effort.

Just thinking about this series again raises disgust. It was just not pretty. The Spurs were not pretty in this game. And someone had to win the title that year.

And there was this embarrassment along the way.
