Turner Sports sideline reporter Craig Sager, who has been battling cancer, will receive the Jimmy V Award at the 2016 ESPYS.

The ESPYS bring the best of current and former athletes together every year to honor the best moments of that particular year in sports. While the top teams from the previous year are honored and it’s a great night for all, it’s also a night to remember the courage and perseverance of many.

One of the biggest honors to receive at the show is the Jimmy V Award, which was named after former North Carolina State head basketball coach Jim Valvano. Valvano died from bone cancer and he delivered one of the greatest speeches ever on not giving up.

With such an important award to be handed out this year, there was no better person for the award to go to than Turner Sports sideline reporter Craig Sager.

Sager has had multiple battles with Leukemia and after it went into remission, he is once again battling the disease and he is not giving up the fight. Sager’s continued perseverance has moved those that are around him and even when he’s battled the disease with treatment, he’s made sure to show up to do his job and to the best of his abilities.

The man with the greatest wardrobe alive will be honored this summer and it should be one of the best moments of the year.
