Could LeBron James be planning a return to Miami if he wins a title in Cleveland?

LeBron James signed a 2-year, $42.1 million contract to return home and try to bring a championship to the hungry fans in Cleveland. If James accomplishes his task this season, could he return for a second stint in Miami?

According to ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, it’s a distinct possibility.

“LeBron James promised the city of Cleveland, ‘I’m coming back to bring you that elusive title that has escaped this city since 1964.’ He never said anything about staying once he does accomplish that.

“I’m in Miami last week. I’m in Miami a few months ago. Skip Bayless, I’m hearing about a return to Miami if this man wins. He ain’t going nowhere if he loses. But, if he wins, his options are open. LA, but especially Miami, a return to South Beach.”

Before this option is completely ruled out and thought of as crazy, let’s remember this is a man who shocked the world when he decided to take his talents to South Beach and leave Cleveland in 2010. Then in 2014, the same man-made a return to the fans that were burning his jersey in the streets of Cleveland. So, it is safe to say that nothing is out of the question for LeBron James.

James has made it very clear on social media that he wants to play with Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul. If that isn’t enough to get the thought brewing, James has unfollowed the Cavaliers on Twitter. This means if the Cavs to anything not to his liking, The King could be taking his talents back to South Beach.

If LeBron and the Cavs fall short once again this postseason, he will remain in Cleveland for sure. But what is keeping him there if they win? This would be the third ring for James and the first championship for the Cavaliers. James would be happy, the fans and franchise would be happy but Dwyane Wade may be the happiest of them all if it means teaming up with LeBron again.

So, all will watch this offseason to see if the King returns to the city that he gave two titles and or if he’ll stay in the city that was his first home.
