Steelers RB Le’Veon Bell says Bengals’ players try to injure him

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell is calling out NFL teams including the Cincinnati Bengals for trying to injure him.

Star running back Le’Veon Bell injured his knee in the Steelers’ Week 8 game against the Bengals last season. Bell ended up missing the entire year with a torn MCL and thinks the Bengals intentionally tried to hurt him.

According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Bell thought the Bengals were trying to take him out of the game via injury, and they are not the only team using that strategy.

"“I feel there are a lot of teams that try to do that, try to take me out of the game,” Bell told reporters on Tuesday. “I don’t think it was just [Burfict]. It felt like the whole team was out there trying to twist my ankles and do little dirty stuff in between piles … I was ignorant to the fact at first.”"

Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict was the one to take Bell down by the sideline when the injury occurred. While it did not look particularly like he was trying to injure the Steelers’ star back, Burfict has had issues with stuff like this in the past.

In fact, his ridiculous actions late in the game against the Steelers in the post-season not only cost his team a post-season victory but caused him to get suspended for the first three games of 2016. Let’s just say that nobody should be surprised to learn that Burfict is out there trying to injure a fellow player.

As for Bell, he appears to be rehabbing nicely and expects to be 100 percent healthy when the Steelers start their regular season slate in September. Bell is an incredible player who is one of the best backs in the NFL, but he has struggled with a lot of injuries in recent years. Knee injuries to end back-to-back seasons is obviously less than ideal.

“My luck hopefully should change this year and I’m on the field and there’s nothing freaky,” Bell said. “Just take care of my body and do the little things right.”

With the multi-talented Bell on the field, the Steelers offense is incredibly difficult to stop. The NFL is a much better league for everyone involved when a player of his caliber is fully healthy.
