DraftKings Late MLB Picks For May 25

There are eight games in the night tournament tonight. That leaves us quite a few options, and a lot of tough decisions to make. Who should you spend on? Let’s hit the stats!

More from DraftKings

NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. The highest scorer of the day could be someone with no experience against his opponent. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players.

Steven Wright has never faced the Rockies, but this game is in Boston and Wright carries a 2.52 ERA into this. He may be worth a look. Scott Kazmir has a very limited history against the Reds, but they have had a slow series hitting the ball. He may be worth using as well. Matt Andriese has never faced the Marlins. Tyler Wilson has never faced the Astros, but they do strike out at an alarming rate. The same goes for Justin Nicolino against the Rays.

Zach Neal will make his first major league start against the Mariners, a team that is averaging a shade over 4.5 runs per game. You may want to pass on that one.

Best Bet:

Rubby De La Rosa ($7,600): De La Rosa put up 23.9 DraftKings points against the Pirates back on April 23rd. Tonight he gets a tasty matchup with Jeff Locke, and his stats against the Diamondbacks are…..well…dominant. The Snakes are hitting a pathetic .140 off of De La Rosa in 57 at bats with a homer, only two runs, and a high 19 strikeouts. The stats say De La Rosa will perform well above his cost.

Honorable Mention:

Hisashi Iwakuma ($7,500): Iwakuma has pitched pretty well against the A’s in his career. The A’s are hitting .241 in 174 at bats with five homers, 17 RBI, and 33 strikeouts. Average numbers, right? Well on a lighter slate and against a guy making his first major league start, Iwakuma is a solid bet to get some good numbers.

Dark Horse:

Junior Guerra ($7,400): Guerra has never faced the Braves, but struck out a career high 11 Cubs in his last outing. He seems to be hitting stride, and the Braves are…….well….the Braves. If you are looking to take a shot with someone, Guerra looks like a good bet.

You have heard our FanDuel experts Matt Rogers and Brian Tulloch talk about “stacking” pieces of a lineup against certain pitchers. Here are the stacks that could work well on DraftKings today, based on past statistics.

You should plan on stacking some Yankees against Marco Estrada. For all of his success, the Yankees have still hit him very hard. Carlos Beltran ($3,800) is 7-24(.292) with four walks, three homers, and five RBI off Estrada. Starlin Castro ($3,000) is 12-27(.444) with a walk, four doubles, a triple, and a pair of RBI. Jacoby Ellsbury ($4,200) is 6-17(.353) with a walk, two doubles, a triple, and a RBI. Brian McCann ($3,500) is 8-20 with a walk and two RBI. Mark Teixeira ($3,200) is 3-9 with two walks. All three of those hits are homers and he has driven in five.

The Blue Jays have driven in a ridiculous 27 runs on Ivan Nova in only 131 at bats. You know there is some stacking here! Josh Donaldson ($4,900) is 7-16(.438) with a walk and a double, but hasn’t driven in a run. That will likely change. Jose Bautista ($5,400) is 8-23(.348) with seven walks, three doubles, a homer, and seven RBI off Nova. Edwin Encarnacion ($4,600) is 10-30 with two walks, three doubles, a homer, and seven RBI also. Justin Smoak is only 2-12, but he has a homer and four RBI if you are looking to roll the dice.

Paul Goldschmidt ($4,900) is 5-9(.556) against Jeff Locke, but doesn’t have an extra base hit or a RBI! Jean Segura ($4,200) is 10-32(.313) with a walk, three doubles, a homer, and two RBI against Locke. Rickie Weeks ($3,300) is 4-13(.308) with two walks, a double, and a solo homer against Locke.

Coco Crisp ($3,100) is only 4-19(.211) off of Hisashi Iwakuma, but two of those hits are home runs. Billy Burns ($3,700) is 5-13(.385) with a double and two RBI against Iwakuma. Danny Valencia ($3,500) is hot anyway, and is 3-12 with a double, a homer, and two RBI against Iwakuma.

Pedro Alvarez ($2,900) has only faced Collin McHugh once, but it was memorable. He hit a solo homer off of him. Adam Jones ($3,600) is 3-9 with a solo shot against McHugh as well.

Yasiel Puig ($3,800) is 1-2 with a three run homer off of Dan Straily in his career.
