NBA Free Agency: 10 players most likely to move this summer
By Tom West
4. Brandon Jennings
Brandon Jennings isn’t exactly the 19.1 points per game scorer he was during the 2011-12 season in Milwaukee. An Achilles injury last season has made it difficult for him to continue as the fast, energetic, high-volume shooter he is, and since the Pistons traded him to the Magic in February, little has changed.
Inconsistency was yet again a problem for Jennings with the Magic, and settling in with new teammates while coming off a serious injury didn’t make matters any easier. Regardless, his 36.6 percent shooting is always going to be a cause for concern, and for a young Magic team still searching for an identity, a backup point guard who offers more passing and stability than high-frequency, low-efficiency scoring could be a better option.
Thankfully for Jennings, though, point guard is one of the most sought after positions in the NBA and plenty of teams could use a new one, whether they’re taking a shot with a new starter or need some depth on the bench.
If Jennings leaves Orlando this summer, he’ll be searching for a new situation to prove himself and a bigger role than he had in Orlando. And in the improved cap situation, with plenty of teams in need, he should receive solid offers to take him away from a Magic team who won’t have been overly impressed with their showing since February.
