According to his agent, NBA star Damian Lillard has attracted the interest of major rap labels.

Portland Trailblazer Damian Lillard just dropped his latest track, “Talk To Em,” a rap song that features evocative lyrics and sick beats:

"‘Cuz when I’m close to par, that’s when I got to raise the barI ain’t tryin to be a starI’m more like Moses‘Cuz I’m the type to pump a lot of hope into the hopelessRaised in East OaklandI’m a product of thatMade to survive anywhere"

He also says he is salty as Utah, “tryna build an empire like I’m Rick Ross,” and “like an ostrich.” According to his agent, Lillard is so talented that several major record labels have expressed interest in signing him to a rap deal. He already has a rapper name: Dame DOLLA. DOLLA is an acronym, standing for Different on Levels the Lord Allows.

Agents are sort of like moms, not always objective and always free with the compliments. Lillard probably shouldn’t quit his day job yet, but his  new track has over 40,000 listens on SoundCloud. If you haven’t listened to it yet, you can check it out here.

Dame Dolla also made a complete mixtape last summer. He is not the only high profile athlete dabbling in rap. Pittsburgh Steelers star running back Le’Veon Bell also has a mixtape he made under the rap name Juice. Other pro basketball players to drop mixtape or full albums include Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Metta World Peace, Chris Webber, and Shaquille O’Neal.
