A coach in the Colombian first division has been suspended after he poked a ball-boy in the eye
Over the years if you’ve been following soccer, you’ve seen some crazy things. Even if you’ve just been keeping up with it for the past few years, you’ve seen things like Luis Suarez biting other players, Eden Hazard kicking a ball-boy, and much more happen on the soccer pitch. However, a coach in the Colombian first division may have gotten suspended for one for one of the most ridiculous reasons yet—poking a ball-boy in the eye.
Because the Internet loves us, there’s actually video of Independiente Santa Fe manager Alexis Garcia getting super upset while talking to a ref and then poking the ball-boy right in the eye:
Apparently what happened was that Independiente Santa Fe were ahead by one goal on the road and the ball-boy was trying to help out the home team in the opinion of Garcia by getting the ball as fast as possible.
To express his displeasure with this, Garcia then tried to demonstrate with the ref and put his finger right in the ball-boy’s eye.
As you’d expect him to, the manager denied intent regarding the incident, but was still suspended for his club’s next three matches. File this one under ridiculous soccer stories along with the dozens of others equally as bizarre.
