DraftKings MLB Picks For May 27

There are 14 games tonight with the Phillies and Cubs playing a matinee at Wrigley, so that means a lot of stats to go through, and a lot of tough decisions to make. Who should you spend on? Let’s hit the stats!

More from DraftKings

NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. The highest scorer of the day could be someone with no experience against his opponent. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players.

Pat Dean has never faced the Mariners, and he gets to face off against the King in his court. You should likely stay away from this one. Julio Urias is making his long awaited Major League debut, but he has to face off against one of the best pitchers. You should probably use a wait-and-see approach with Urias. Michael Fulmer is making his first start against the A’s, which looks like a solid matchup for him.

Best Bets:

Masahiro Tanaka ($10,400): Tanaka was good for 22.2 DraftKings points against the Rays back on April 23rd. The Rays are hitting just .173 off of him now in 75 at bats with two homers, four RBI, and 20 strikeouts. One of those homers is by Kevin Keirmaier, who is now on the DL. The other is by Desmond Jennings, his only hit in nine at bats. Expect a strong showing from Tanaka once again.

Jacob deGrom ($9,900): The Dodgers are only hitting .222 against deGrom in 72 at bats with three homers, eight RBI, and 15 strikeouts. As long as he stays away from AGon, he should have a good night on the mound at home.

Honorable Mention:

Cole Hamels ($9,500): Hamels has held the Pirates to a .241 average with just one homer and six runs scored in 87 at bats. He also hasĀ a healthy 24 strikeouts, which is just a shade under one per inning. Hamels looks like a very strong play in Texas.

Aaron Sanchez ($7,200): Sanchez has held the Red Sox to a .205 average in 78 at bats with only one homer and six RBI so far. He has only struck out 17, which leaves him a notch below elite, but you can’t argue with the numbers, or the ones that he has posted so far this year. He could outscore several pitchers with higher price tags tonight.

Dark Horses:

Trevor Bauer ($7,000):Ā Bauer has dominated the Orioles so far in his career. The O’s are hitting just .176 off of Bauer in 34 at bats. He has given up four runs, but most of that damage was done by one player. He has only six strikeouts, which makes him a bit of a risk.

Jon Niese ($6,500):Ā Niese has held the Rangers to a .246 average in 69 at bats, but the telling stat is 19 strikeouts. He also has given up only four runs. You wouldn’t think of Niese as a great play in Arlington, but he just might be a very good one.Ā .

You have heard our FanDuel experts Matt Rogers and Brian Tulloch talk about ā€œstackingā€ pieces of a lineup against certain pitchers. Here are the stacks that could work well on DraftKings today, based on past statistics.

You can shout this from the rooftop: Stack Rockies against Matt Cain! Not all of the ones you may think though. Nolan Arenado is just 4-22(.182) against Cain, however, all of those hits are for extra bases. Carlos Gonzalez is even worse, going just 8-52(.154). Charlie Blackmon ($4,900) is 6-19(.316) with two walks, a double, a homer, and two RBI against Cain. DJ LeMahieu ($3,900) isĀ 8-20 with three walks,Ā two doubles, a home run, and two RBI against Cain. Even Mark Reynolds ($3,800) could be a good play if he starts. He is 8-27(.296) with two walks, four doubles, two homers, and four RBI. Gerardo Parra ($4,100) is 20-63(.317) with five walks,Ā six doubles, a homer, andĀ six RBI in his career against Cain.

Joe Mauer ($2,800) is 14-=41(.341) with four walks, four doubles, two homers, and seven RBI off of Felix Hernandez. Kurt Suzuki ($2,000) is 12-41(.293) with three walks, four doubles, a homer, and six driven in off of King Felix. Even Trevor Plouffe ($2,700) is 6-11(.545) with three RBI against the King. All of them could be great bargains tonight for under $3,000.

Kole Calhoun ($3,700) is already 2-6 with a solo homer against Mike Fiers. Mike Trout has a solo homer for his only hit in five at bats off Fiers. C.J. Cron ($3,100) could be a great bargain tonight. Cron is 3-6 with two homers and four RBI against Fiers.

Jose Abreu ($4,000) is 7-19(.368) with three walks, a double, a homer, and two RBI against Danny Duffy in his career. Austin Jackson ($2,800) is 8-25(.320) with four walks, two doubles, and a solo homer off of Duffy. Dioner Navarro ($2,700) is 2-5 with a walk, a homer, and two RBI off Duffy. It could be a good night for Sox righties!

Omar Infante only has one hit off of Miguel Gonzalez in eight at bats, but he has driven in four runs. Eric Hosmer is just 1-13(.077), but he has three RBI. Lorenzo Cain ($4,400) is 3-6 with a solo homer off of Gonzalez. Salvador Perez ($3,200) is 5-14 with a homer and two RBI off Gonzalez.

Brandon Moss ($2,600) is only 4-20 against Max Scherzer, but he has two homers and four RBI off of him.

Adrian Gonzalez ($3,300) has Jacob deGromā€˜s number. Gonzalez is 5-10 with a walk, two homers, and six RBI against the Mets ace.

Manny Machado ($4,800) is 2-5 with a walk and two solo home runs against Trevor Bauer.

Andrew McCutchen ($4,100) is 7-24(.292) with a walk,Ā a double, a home run, and six RBI off of Cole Hamels. The best part? He comes at a bit of a price reduction against a big name pitcher.

Matt Kemp ($4,100) is 3-8 with a double, a homer, and four RBI against Robbie Ray. Derek Norris ($3,100) could also be worth a look. Norris is 2-6 with a double and a solo homer off of Ray.

Okay, look at this line: Jacoby Ellsbury ($4,000) is 16-24(.667) with four walks, a double, a homer, and three RBI off of Chris Archer. He is getting on base more than two out of every three times up. You almost have to play him!

Christian Friedrich doesn’t have much major league experience, but Rickie Weeks ($4,000) is already 4-7 with a cycle and two RBI against him.

Jayson Werth ($4,000) is 6-20 with three walks, a double, two homers, and six RBI against Jaime Garcia. Just in case you were wondering, Bryce Harper is 1-9, but the one hit wasĀ a three run homer.

Ryan Braun ($5,100) is already 4-6 with a double, twoĀ walks, and two solo homersĀ against John Lamb.

Marcell Ozuna ($4,400) is already 3-5 with a walk, a double, a homer, and two RBI against Williams Perez.

Jose Altuve ($4,900) is 4-9 with a double and a solo home run against Matt Shoemaker. Colby Rasmus ($3,700) is 2-6 with a walk, a homer, and two driven in.
