Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman didn’t hold back when asked to evaluate his struggles during the 2016 season.

Through the first two months of the 2016 season, the Atlanta Braves would love nothing more than to hit the reset button and start everything all over again. With a record of 12-34, the Braves are tied for the worst record in all of Major League Baseball and are already on manger number two this season.

One of the main reasons for the woes this season has been the lack of production from their star talent…including first baseman Freddie Freeman. In his last 14 games, Freeman is batting just .186 and has just one hit in 26 at bats with runners in scoring position.

Give Freeman credit for one thing: while he isn’t hitting at the plate, he is at least being honest about it when asked to evaluate his performance through this point in the season to ESPN.com:

"“Right now, I suck. There’s no getting around it.”“I feel great. I’ve had a pretty horrible season so far. There’s no sugarcoating it, I’m just not getting hits. The hits I do get are obviously not with guys in scoring position, but obviously that needs to change. If it doesn’t happen soon … I’m already getting frustrated.”"

Freddie Freeman was the MLB leader in batting average with runners in scoring position last season, so the recent woes are even more noticeable. Freeman started the year going 2-for-25 in the first eight games (all losses by the Braves), but did shine with a .422 average in the 12 games before his latest skid.

The Braves open a three game series this weekend at home against the Miami Marlins, the fourth place team in the NL East who Atlanta trails by “only” 12.5 games.
