Georgia did the unthinkable on Friday afternoon, stunning the Florida Gators and advancing to the Women’s College World Series
There’s really nothing better in sports than a good upset story, and boy, were we ever treated to one on Friday courtesy of the Georgia Bulldogs.
If someone would had told you before the NCAA Women’s Softball Tournament started that the defending champion Florida Gators would not be advancing to Oklahoma City as part of the College World Series, you would have thought they were out of their minds talking about the No. 1 team in the country like that.
Yeah, well, all it took was one swing of the bat in the bottom of the 7th inning from Georgia pinch hitter Kaylee Puailoa to make that a reality.
With a runner on first and two outs, Puailoa showed a bunt, but pulled the bat back to take the swing which now looks like the best decision in the history of sports.
Now, with the win there, the Georgia Bulldogs will be taking the trip to Oklahoma City for the Women’s College World Series and the defending champs are now packing their bags to go home and not defend that title on the big stage.
