You either love or hate Oklahoma City Thunder guard Dion Waiters. Some believe he’s finally unearthing his potential, while others think his habitual ball-stopping and self-absorption will forever be his detriment. For the majority of his three-year career, Waiters has been considered highly talented, but inconsistent and incompetent. When Dion puts it all together, he has contributed well for the Thunder, especially thus far in these playoffs. His three-point shooting and drives to the basket have opened up many options for Oklahoma City and taken the offensive load off of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. Dion is also been a capable defender when he puts the work in, even containing San Antonio Spurs superstar Kawhi Leonard in the Conference Semi-Finals.

However, during his time as a Cleveland Cavalier, and still for the Thunder, Dion’s trademark move remains standing on the perimeter, waving his hands in the air and calling for the ball. He still dribbles the life out of the ball and takes a contested step back 20-footer, which more often than not misses its mark. His defense can be lackluster as well, despite what he’s shown as of late.

A group of Dion Waiters fans have gathered on a small island off the east coast. It’s a gorgeous spot, but its inhabitants often come and leave in accordance to Waiters’ play on the court. We here at Friendly Bounce are proud citizens of Waiters Island and hope you will come join us. Here’s our brochure:
