DraftKings Late MLB Picks For May 28

Six of the games make up the late slate on this Saturday, making this the smaller tournament of the day. There are still some stats to sort through, so let’s see who past history says will win us some money!

More from DraftKings

NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. The highest scorer of the day could be someone with no experience against his opponent. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players.

Wade Miley has never faced the Twins, but be careful. The Twins knocked around Felix Hernandez last night, and they hit lefties hard. Cesar Vargas has never faced the Diamondbacks, but it will be a tough matchup against Greinke.

Best Bets:

Noah Syndergaard ($13,000):Ā Is Syndergaard worth this price? History says yes. The Dodgers are hitting only .170 off of him with three solo homers in 47 at bats. The downside? He has only struck out eight. That might be enough to keep some from using him. If You are spending this kind of cash, you want more strikeouts. Don’t rule out the possibility of Thor kicking it up a little though.

Zack Greinke ($11,100):Ā Are you willing to ignore Greinke’s 4.59 ERA on the season? Prior stats say you should. Greinke has held the Padres to a .204 average in 211 at bats with just two homers and only nine runs scored. He has also racked up a strong 49 strikeouts. He is a tad more of a risk than Syndergaard, but he is a lot cheaper and he is playing a much weaker offense.

Honorable Mention:

Kenta Maeda ($8,800):Ā Maeda pitched well against the Mets back on May 11 until he faced Noah Syndergaard. Thor took him deep not once, but twice in that game, driving in all four of the Mets’ runs. What are the chances of Thor doing it again? Not very good. Maeda could be worth using, so long as he walks Syndergaard!

Dark Horses:

Dallas Keuchel ($6,300):Ā You can say this for DraftKings: they don’t care about names. Keuchel has an ERA near 6 on the season, hence the cheaper price. His past history against the Angels gives hope for a turnaround. The Angels are only hitting .225 against Keuchel in 160 at bats with two homers, ten RBI, and 41 strikeouts. There is potential for a good start here.

Adam Wainwright ($6,000): Wainwright has been on here a lot this year because his career stats are still good. His 5.77 ERA this year is not. It is down to 4.50 in May, but that still isn’t enough of an improvement. Still, the Nationals are only hitting .243 in 140 at bats with two homers, 11 RBI and 26 strikeouts. Will Wainwright come through for you?

You have heard our FanDuel experts Matt Rogers and Brian Tulloch talk about ā€œstackingā€ pieces of a lineup against certain pitchers. Here are the stacks that could work well on DraftKings today, based on past statistics.

Stack some Mariners against Phil Hughes. Nori Aoki ($3,400) is 4-14(.286) with a double and a RBI. Franklin Gutierrez ($3,100) is 4-11(.364) with two walks, a double, and a solo homer. Nelson Cruz ($4,600) is only 5-24(.208), but he has two doubles, two homers, and three RBI. Seth Smith ($3,500) is 6-17(.353) with two walks, a double, a homer, and a pair of RBI. Adam Lind ($3,800) is 11-45(.244) with six walks, five doubles, two homers, and six driven in. You dont need to concern yourself with the 17 strikeouts!

Who hit the three homers off of Syndergaard? I know you are aching to know! Those would be Adrian Gonzalez ($2,800), Corey Seager ($2,900), and Yasmani Grandal ($2,300). The best part? They are a combined 5-14!

Gyorko ($3,200) is 2-6 with a solo homer off of Gio. Jhonny Peralta has the other homer, but he is currently on the disabled list.

You may want to stack some Astros against the struggling Jered Weaver. Jose Altuve ($4,700) is 10-29(.345) with two doubles and a RBI off Weaver. Jason Castro ($3,100) is 5-20 with a double, two homers, and five RBI against Weaver. Carlos Correa ($4,000) is 3-5 with a walk, a homer, and two driven in. Evan Gattis ($3,900) is 3-10 with a double, a homer, and two driven in. George Springer ($4,500) is 4-12 with a homer and two driven in as well. Make sure you stay away from Colby Rasmus though. Rasmus is just 1-17 against Weaver in his career.

Mike Trout ($5,200) is 10-31(.323) with four walks and a solo homer off of Dallas Keuchel. Yunel Escobar ($3,300) is 2-5 with four walks and a pair of RBI against Keuchel so far.

John Jaso ($3,200) hit Yu Darvish very well when he was in the American League. Jaso is 9-22(.409) with two walks, two doubles, two homers, and three RBI against Darvish. Add to that the fact that Darvish may not be sharp in his first start in a year, and Jaso could have a good night.

Jayson Werth has both of the Nat’s home runs off of Adam Wainwright, but he is just 5-27(.185) against him. Daniel Murphy ($4,800) may be a better bet. Murphy is 7-14 with a walk, two doubles, a triple, and two RBI against Wainwright.

Adrian Beltre ($3,900) is 1-3 with a solo homer off of Juan Nicasio.
