Klay Thompson led the Warriors to a thrilling victory on Saturday over the Thunder to force a decisive Game 7 to determine who goes to the Finals

149. 108. 41. Final. 101

If you had told the casual NBA that the Oklahoma City Thunder would be dealing with Kevin Durant playing arguably his worst game of the 2016 NBA Playoffs and the Western Conference Finals while Stephen Curry also continued to struggle largely for the Golden State Warriors in Game 6, there’s a good chance that the casual fan would’ve shied away from this matchup.

That would’ve been a grave mistake.

Right out of the gate, it was clear that the drama was going to be high between the Warriors and Thunder in Game 6. Even with Durant clearly pressing on the offensive end, he was making up for it with a strong defensive effort. Meanwhile, Westbrook was carrying the offense for the Thunder in the first half and keeping them ahead, but a few timely buckets from Curry and Klay Thompson remaining white hot kept the Warriors in striking distance in the first half.

It was more of the same for both teams in the third quarter, though Durant scaled back his shooting a bit as he clearly wasn’t going supernova in the night. However, every time that the Thunder looked like they might go on a run, Thompson and the Warriors would find an answer either with a big steal or a big bucket and stay within striking distance. They went into the fourth quarter trailing by only seven points.

Then came crunch time and the Splash Brothers were ready for the challenge. Early in the quarter, Thompson hit his 10th three of the game to set an NBA Playoffs record for made triples in a single game. Even better for the Warriors, though, was that Curry finally started to get into his rhythm both as a shooter and facilitator. In the end, the record-breaking night from Klay and Steph finally catching fire was enough to push Golden State ahead and get them the hard-earned victory.
