New Orleans Pelicans guard Bryce Dejean-Jones dead at 23 years old.
Tragedy struck the NBA on Saturday with the news that New Orleans Pelicans guard Bryce Dejean-Jones died at the age of 23, according to the Ames Tribune who got confirmation from the Dallas County coroner’s office.
The coroner’s office did not provide the cause of death for the promising young player. However, Shams Charania of The Vertical on Yahoo reports Dejean-Jones suffered a gunshot wound to his abdomen on Friday and bled to death.
Dejean-Jones played in 14 games for the Pelicans last year after getting called up from the Developmental League. Dejean-Jones finished his college basketball career in Ames with the Iowa State Cyclones after beginning his career at USC and UNLV.

This is such an unspeakable tragedy for a player with so much talent and potential to be gunned down at such a young age. He had the world in front of him and the security of a three-year NBA contract to fulfill his dream of playing in the NBA.
