Atletico Madrid sub Yannick Carrasco came up huge with an equalizer vs Real Madrid in the 2016 Champions League Final

Atletico Madrid looked as if they had squandered their one chance at equalizing Real Madrid early in the second half. After earning a penalty, their star in Antoine Griezmann rocketed the penalty off of the crossbar in heartbreaking fashion. For the next 30 minutes of play, there wasn’t much of a threat from either team. When Gareth Bale and Real just missed out on going up 2-0, it was a young up-and-comer for Atletico in Yannick Carrasco that came up huge for his club.

Carrasco came on at halftime to try and give Atletico a bit of a spark in their attack and, for the most part, he had done that. His side were much more aggressive after he came onto the pitch. However, when Juanfran played a beautiful give-and-go that opened him up on the right side to deliver in a cross, Yannick Carrasco was charging down the middle of the box and slid in to drill the finish into the top of the net to tie the match at 1-1:

That’s just a gorgeous play all around from Atletico, but even more impressive from the young Yannick Carrasco. Asked to come on in the face of adversity against a team like Real Madrid and he delivers the biggest goal of his life.
