6. St. Louis Rams move to Los Angeles (2016)

If you live in Los Angeles, your team is coming home! If you live in St. Louis, you just lost your football team. In theory, part of the reason the team moved was because it did not have enough support in St. Louis. Still, loyal fans have to feel somewhat abandoned.

Though this news did not come as a complete surprise, it has to be a horrible feeling to wake up and read that your team is moving, that the 2015 season was the last time you will see the Rams in Missouri.

The San Diego Chargers are in a similar situation. If plans for a new stadium are not approved, they, too, could be moving to Los Angeles and share space with the Rams. The Oakland Raiders are a third team that has come up in discussions about relocation.

While it is traumatic to lose your hometown team (what do you do with all of your gear? your season tickets?), it generally is not a total surprise. If you are caught off guard by news of your team leaving town, it probably means you were a half-hearted fan to begin with and were part of the reason your team decided to leave.
