We are in the middle of the National Football League’s offseason, and with that there is a dearth of things to talk about.

The NFL Draft is already over and most of the free agents worth monitoring have been scooped up, save a few like Anquan Boldin and Brandon Boykin.

Currently, there are OTAs going on and each team is getting a little bit of work in, albeit without pads or contact (unless you are the Baltimore Ravens, then you go full tilt only to get a week of OTAs canceled because you don’t understand rules). The OTA sessions will bleed into June where mandatory minicamps will take place before every team goes home for about six weeks until the start of training camp.

For now, the main item to follow is the players who are sitting on the franchise tag. For the teams trying to sign these stars, they have until July 15. Otherwise, the players must wait until after the season to strike a long-term deal.

Currently, there are seven players who were given the franchise tag and now have the choice to sign a long-term deal, play on the tag or sit out the first 10 weeks of the regular season before coming back to accrue another year toward unrestricted free agency.

So let’s take a look at each of the situations and access what is going to happen.
