Celtics’ Isaiah Thomas prepares recruiting pitch for Kevin Durant

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - MAY 28: Kevin Durant

Isaiah Thomas wasted no time in preparing his recruiting pitch to try to lure Kevin Durant to the Celtics.

The Boston Celtics are in a unique position. They desperately need to add a star to their already talented team. The Celtics made the playoffs and gave the Atlanta Haws a good run for their money despite not really having a star. They also have a surplus of high draft picks needed to acquire pieces to improve their team.

After the Oklahoma City Thunder lost to the Warriors, star forward Kevin Durant is set to become a free agent. It remains to be seen if the Celtics will pursue him, but point guard Isaiah Thomas sure wants him. He might have deleted the tweet, but screenshots are forever.

Thomas had no chill and wasted no time in trying to recruit Durant. That’s quite understandable. Adding Durant would make the Celtics immediate contenders in the Eastern Conference. They have the picks necessary to trade for championship pieces. Not only that, they have a great point guard in Thomas and an even better head coach in the eternally underrated Brad Stevens.

Durant would be wise to consider signing with the Celtics. He wouldn’t have to deal with the Warriors and their potential dynasty except in the Finals. No more San Antonio Spurs either. His biggest competition in the Eastern Conference? LeBron James. While James is an incredible talent, the Cleveland Cavaliers are the only elite team in the East.

Meanwhile, the Western Conference has the Warriors and Spurs with other teams like the Los Angeles Clippers lurking in the background. The Celtics are in a position to tempt Durant to join them, but is their mutual interest?
