MLB All-Star Game: Salvador Perez, Royals lead early voting
The first results for the MLB All-Star Game voting were released on Tuesday, with the Kansas City Royals leading the charge.
Fans of the defending champion Kansas City Royals sure know how to show up and vote. For the second straight season, the Royals appear to be primed for a strong showing in the MLB All-Star Game based on the fan vote.
The first results of the fan voting were released on Tuesday, with the American League results being shown. Royals catcher Salvador Perez leads all American League players with 1,094,942 total votes, and Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz came in second with 963,076 votes.
The Royals have a representative in the top two at all seven positions listed, but only first baseman Eric Hosmer and outfielder Lorenzo Cain join Perez as Royals’ starters at the moment.
The most interesting situation of the bunch is Royals’ second baseman Omar Infante on the heels of Houston Astros second baseman as the starter at the position despite a terrible .244/.288/.331 on the season. However, even when they are not performing, Royals’ fans are not afraid to vote for their guys.
The 2016 MLB All-Star Game will take place on July 12th and will be hosted this season by the San Diego Padres at Petco Park. The first results for the National League will be released by Major League Baseball on Wednesday.
