While the Golden State Warriors are headed to the NBA Finals for a second straight year, their big men have not performed up to par during the playoffs, and with both Mo Speights and Festus Ezeli entering free agency this offseason, it might be time to inject some new blood into the Warriors’ front court. UNLV’s Stephen Zimmerman checks a number of boxes that Golden State will look for in a prospective big including mobility, rim protection, passing, and the potential to space the floor.

Zimmerman moves well on the defensive end, and although he doesn’t have elite quickness, he should be able to use his length to help stay in front of his man on switches for short periods of time. He is also a decent rim protector, posting a 7.5 percent block rate as a freshman while averaging 3.0 blocks per 40 minutes.

Offensively, Zimmerman is a promising passer despite some underwhelming assist numbers at UNLV. He is at his best attacking in face-up situations right now and has good enough ball-handling to be a bit of a mismatch in those situations. He has shown promise as a potential spot up shooter as well even though UNLV’s offense didn’t necessarily showcase the 19-year-old as much as it could have.

To read more about Stephen Zimmerman, <a href=.
