These are the five players the Los Angeles Lakers should target with their draft picks in the 2016 NBA Draft.

Whether it is by design or not, the Los Angeles Lakers are well on their way to building their next great team via the draft and not necessarily because they brought in top free agents or acquired the best players in the league.

After landing D’Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson and Julius Randle in recent drafts, the Lakers will have a chance to add another marquee player to their roster this year at the 2016 NBA Draft, where they will hold the No. 2 overall pick in the draft.

While the Lakers’ focus will be on the No. 2 pick and that will be the next piece for them to build around, the Lakers will also hold the No. 32 pick in the draft in the second round.

That pick is just as valuable to general managers because of the flexibility of the pick and it gives them the chance to add potentially another young talented player to the roster or a foreign talent that they can stash overseas for a bit.

If the Lakers really hit it big on this draft and their existing young talent continues to take off as they’re expected to, it won’t be long until the Lakers are contending again, especially if they can lure some free agents along the way.

With the NBA Draft coming up, these are the players the Lakers should target with their draft picks.
