UCLA Bruins quarterback Josh Rosen enters his sophomore season as a Heisman Trophy contender after a promising freshman year.

With just under three months remaining until the start of the 2016 college football regular season, it’s already time to start thinking about possible contenders for the 2016 Heisman Trophy.

As always, the top quarterbacks around the country are among the preseason favorites to take home college football’s most prestigious award. Clemson’s Deshaun Watson tops the early list of contenders, while many project Chad Kelly and J.T. Barrett to be in the race.

Just behind that group is UCLA starting quarterback Josh Rosen. After an excellent debut as a freshman phenom, just a little bit of development will have Rosen playing at an elite level.

A very hyped five-star recruit, Rosen entered his freshman season at Westwood with high expectations, and certainly delivered. Rosen won the starting job for the preseason No. 13 Bruins and turned in a number of terrific performances, which should have Jim Mora Jr. and company excited for 2016

While there were a few expected hiccups along the way, the potential for Rosen was clearly apparent. Rosen will look to take the next step in 2016 with a new-look Bruins team trying to elevate from fringe contender to Pac-12 South champion.

Look for Rosen to be in the Heisman race throughout the 2016 season for a few different reasons.
