5 reasons Josh Rosen can win the 2016 Heisman Trophy
A marquee opener
Leaving a strong impression in a marquee non-conference game can leave an impression on the nation that lasts for the entire season. Rosen will get a shot to impress everybody right away with one of the premier games of the 2016 regular season opening weekend.
UCLA will head to Kyle Field to face the Aggies on Saturday, September 3. Even during one of the most loaded opening weekends in memory, the eyes of the nation will be on the UCLA-Texas A&M game, especially with the added Mazzone storyline.
The trip to Texas A&M will be one of the greatest challenges of Rosen’s young career, but it also represents a tremendous opportunity. Should Rosen show the expected development and look comfortable in the new offense with a good performance at Kyle Field, the hype is only going to increase in the early stages of the regular season.
While we can’t know for sure how Rosen will react to such a hostile crowd, as UCLA’s most intimating road game in his freshman season came against Utah at Rice-Eccles Stadium, all reports from Westwood indicate he’s ready for the big stage. A strong performance could be a nice kickstarter for a Heisman run, and a great season for UCLA as a whole.
