2016 NBA Finals Likely To Break Resale Ticket Price Record

Despite what any Tweets saying a “lot of tickets for tonight [Game 1] selling well under face value on the resale market” might imply, according to SeatGeek, the series is on pace to have a game with the highest average resale ticket price for any NBA game since the company began tracking the secondary ticket market in 2010.

Tickets to last year’s Game 5 in Oakland cost fans an average of $1412 and is the current record-holder. This year, Game 2 tickets in Oakland are currently running fans an average of $1415, and if the series requires it, Game 5 at Oracle Arena would almost certainly top that (thus far, 2016 Game 5 tickets have resold for $1669 on average). Game 5, 6, and 7 prices are all subject to fluctuation depending on the state of the series, but Game 6 could be a very hot ticket in Cleveland; if a Game 7 is required back in Oakland, given what we are seeing, that would almost certainly be the record-setter.
