Copa America: Full schedules for Group D
By Mac Gushanas
How will Group D, featuring international stalwarts Chile and Argentina, shake out?
Group D is one of the most impressive and intimidating groups amongst the four at this year’s Copa America in the United States. At the top, for now at least, sits Chile, last year’s champions after a rousing penalty shootout win over Argentina. Right below them, of course, is Argentina, arguably a favorite to win the whole tournament off the backs of Lionel Messi, Angel di Maria, Gonzalo Higuain and more. Chile is one of the older teams in the tournament, but with renowned players like Alexis Sanchez and Arturo Vidal, rest assured they will be formidable until the final rounds of Copa America.
The other two teams that comprise Group D are Panama and Bolivia. This is Panama’s first time ever in the Copa America, so strong play and maybe an upset over Chile or Argentina is all that’s desired. Bolivia is a surprise inclusion this year with many shocked they made it out of last year’s group stage. Nobody is expecting much from these two countries, allowing them to play with little pressure. Chile and Argentina can take neither country lightly, especially in a group stage that only features three matches.
Expect Chile and Argentina, two countries near the top of the world right now, to move through Group D with relative ease.
