According to Cowboys tight end Jason Witten, Tony Romo is looking better than he ever has.

If the Dallas Cowboys are going to make a return to the postseason in 2016, they will have to rely heavily on their quarterback Tony Romo. Romo just turned 36 years old back in April and is coming off an injury-ridden 2015 season that limited him to just four games. That might be cause for concern among Cowboys fans, but his tight end has been very impressed with Romo.

“[Romo] does look really good. His tempo, the energy he is bringing, everything he is doing at the line of scrimmage, he looks really well,” Witten said, via The Star-Telegram. “That excites us to see him back healthy, even better than what he was before.”

That sounds great for a Cowboys team that will need Romo to keep them in games. Without Romo, the Cowboys struggled to put up points, putting a ton of pressure on their defense to stop teams. With a healthy Romo, that makes the offense much better and far more capable of scoring. That should ease the pressure off the defense. In an NFC East where there is no clear favorite, the Cowboys could wind up on top with a healthy Romo.

With Romo starting last season, Dallas had a 3-1-0 record. He passed for 884 passing yards, five touchdowns, and seven interceptions while completing over 68 percent of his passes. Romo is a very solid quarterback if he’s healthy. If Witten is telling the truth, the Cowboys could have a great season in 2016.
