According to a report from ESPN FC, Manchester United are heavily interested in Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann.

It had been a disappointing campaign for Manchester United, as they failed to make it out of their UEFA Champions League group and were unable to qualify for the competition next season. They finished level on points with their crosstown rivals Manchester City, but were behind them in the table due to goal differential.

Changes have already begun to arise at Old Trafford, with Jose Mourinho replacing Louis van Gaal on the bench. The Portuguese tactician was fired by Chelsea in December, but had won the Premier League title with the Blues just last season.

He will likely deploy a very different brand of soccer than his predecessor in Manchester, and has started to look at players he would like to bring in. According to a report from ESPN FC, he has already identified Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann as one key target that he would like the Red Devils to acquire.

The Frenchman was a big factor in Ateltico’s run to the UEFA Champions League final, that saw them knock off Barcelona and Bayern Munich along the way. Griezmann started in all 13 of Ateltico Madrid’s Champions League matches this season, scoring seven goals and providing one assist. He also featured in all 38 of their La Liga matches, scoring an impressive 22 goals while adding five assists.

The 25-year-old will be looking to continue his run of fine form this summer, when he suits up for France this at Euro 2016. He has quickly become one of the most sought after players on the continent, and Manchester United will surely face stiff competitions for the striker’s signature.
