2. Kris Dunn

Dunn is a pure point guard prospect, and would be a strong fit running the show for Davis. The biggest positive when it comes to Dunn is his athletic ability and defensive prowess. Dunn is a long guard at 6’4″ and has the speed and awareness to eventually be a shut down defender at the point.

The biggest knock against Dunn is that he is not an efficient scorer yet, especially when it comes to knocking down the three ball. Last year he shot 37 percent from three and that actually boosted his career mark up as he finished his career at Providence as a 35 percent shooter.

He still improved in his shooting from year to year and is a rare player to have stayed for all four years of college. While that does not give him the highest upside, being a few years older than most prospects, it does give him the ability to make an impact right away. He can come off the bench and spell Jrue Holiday and also play beside him as a high energy defensive helper for a team that lacked perimeter defense.

There is also the fact that Holiday is a free agent next year, and Norris Cole is a free agent this year. Dunn can easily step in and take on a role in which was carved out for Cole in 2015. Holiday also has not played in 70 games since the 2012-13 season so there will clearly be opportunities to start.

The Pelicans can use him immediately, work on his shot and then see what they have in the point guard prospect. They may already be planning to move on from Holiday after the season anyways, so to not only have a replacement on the roster, but a high upside one, just one year younger than Anthony Davis would be a great fit for the Pelicans moving forward.
