The United States rolled through Costa Rica in the 2016 Copa America on Tuesday night.

After dropping a loss to Colombia in the 2016 Copa America on Friday night, the United States came into their game against Costa Rica with a need for a win and plenty of goals to get on the right side of the goal differential.

From the very beginning, the United States Men’s National Team hustled and brought their best energy. Bobby Wood was a fixture throughout the game for the United States, but he really made his mark early in the game, when he drew a penalty that would lead to a penalty kick.

Clint Dempsey would take the penalty kick and a great stutter step would pull Costa Rica’s goaltender the opposite direction and the United States would take the lead early.

Costa Rica head coach Óscar Ramírez was not happy after the goal and he really let his squad here about it.

Before the end of the first half, things continued to get much more worse for Costa Rica, as Jermaine Jones would score a beautiful goal to extend the United States’ advantage and push their lead to two.

Things then really fell apart for Costa Rica, as Wood would finally cash in on all his hard work and score to put the United States up three.

And if the thought of realizing his team wasn’t putting forth their best effort wasn’t enough, Ramírez was clearly contemplating where everything went wrong.

With the goal on the play, the United States would then see their point differential shift back into the positive.

In the second half, the United States would cruise easily and they would get another on the board, when midfielder Graham Zusi, who came on as a substitute, would score and increase the lead by four.

Not only was it a big goal to further add onto the lead, it moved the United States to the top of Group A, as they moved into the second tiebreaker, despite losing to Colombia on Friday.
