First Baseman

High-Salary Option: Eric Hosmer-Kansas City Royals (5,500)Hosmer went just 1-4 last night in the Royals loss to Baltimore, but his value jumped over 2K in the salary reset.  He is a very expensive play tonight due to his good matchup against Ubaldo Jimenez who Hosmer is 10-29 against in his career with a pair of homers, seven RBI, and six walks. He has a 1.043 career OPS against Ubaldo, so look for the lefty to produce good numbers at Camden Yards tonight. I liked Hosmer much better as a cheaper play, but his history against Jimenez makes him still worth a look even at this price.

High-Salary Option: Anthony Rizzo-Chicago Cubs (4,700): Even in a lefty-lefty matchup, Rizzo delivered three hits last night agains the Phillies and added two more RBI raising his average to .260 and his RBI total to 42 on the season.  He continues to be the bat in the middle of everything going right for the Cubs and makes a good play almost every day.

Mid-range Option: Miguel Cabrera-Detroit Tigers (3,700)Cabrera has hit safely in eight in a row and is powering a very productive Tigers offense right now.  Over the last week, he is 9-29 with a homer, a pair of doubles, and four RBI. Tobniht he and the Tigers look to take their second game in a row from Toronto as they face Aaron Sanchez.∗∗

High-Value Option: Steve Pearce-Tampa Bay Rays (3,300): Pearce has been playing through an elbow issue but is still hitting .316 on the season and .455 over the last week. He hit an RBI double the only time he faced Zack Greinke in the past and is mashing lefties at a .390 clip this season.  He has five of his eight homers this season against southpaws as well despite having over twice as many at-bats against righties. If you have to go cheap at 1B tonight, Pearce is a solid flier since he has been a lefty killer for Tampa so far this season..
