NFL Twitter account hacked, reports Roger Goodell’s death

The NFL Twitter account was not safe from hackers on Tuesday, having Roger Goodell’s fake death being reported

When it comes to the world of social media, no one is really safe from hackers. We’re reminded of this on a daily basis virtually, and on Tuesday, we learned that the NFL is not even immune.

Tuesday afternoon a tweet came through the NFL’s official Twitter account that had people a tad confused and bewildered for a short time. Out of nowhere, they reported that commissioner Roger Goodell had passed away. The tweet has since been deleted.

Not hearing about any previous health issues or anything of the sort in regards to Goodell to this point, the first thought that came to everyone’s mind was that the NFL Twitter account was indeed hacked. Well, thanks to the ever trusty Adam Schefter, we learned that this was indeed the case.


However, the hacking wouldn’t stop there. Apparently, the hackers wanted to do a little more damage while they had access to one of the most powerful accounts in the world.

Yeah, to say that Tuesday is not the best day for the NFL social media team might be an understatement. Someone is probably not going to have a job in the NFL offices by the end of the day and rightfully so.

But the important thing to remember here is that Mr. Goodell is indeed alive and well, folks.
