After Manny Machado charged the mound following being hit, Baltimore Orioles teammate Adam Jones defending him in words and in the wallet.

Tuesday night, baseball’s unwritten rules struck again during a game between the Baltimore Orioles and Kansas City Royals. After the Orioles’ Manny Machado looked at a hit ball for too long (since there is a clock on that sort of thing for diehard baseball people), he was pelted with an “accidental” fastball from the Royals’ Yordano Ventura.

After that, Machado purposely charged the mound and got a clean hit right on Ventura’s face, starting a benches clearing brawl between the teams. Both players were sent to the showers and will likely see a suspension and fine handed down by MLB.

In the case of Machado, his teammates and manager are backing him up. One of those players, outfielder Adam Jones, is willing to not just support with words, but also with his wallet according to FOXSports.com:

"“I’ve got Manny’s fine and the rest is history. Manny is not at fault for nothing. You get hit with 95 or 98 and see what you do.”"

Jones went all in on Ventura, saying that the young right hander might not be all there mentally:

"“You throw 100 mph and you are trying to hurt someone intentionally, that is not part of the game.”“[Ventura] has electric stuff and the talent is all there, but between the ears, there is a circuit board off balance. I don’t get it. I don’t get it.”"

Machado isn’t struggling for money since he is making $5 million a season. However, if your teammate who makes $16 million is offering to pick up this one, it might be a good idea to say thanks and go by him dinner afterwards.
