Identifying the top high salary and value shortstop plays from around Major League Baseball for your June 8 DraftKings lineup.

Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.

As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.

High Salary

Jonathan Villar, Brewers (5,300): Milwaukee’s dynamic leadoff hitter went hitless Tuesday night and scored zero DraftKings points for the first time since May 22. We don’t expect a repeat of that Wednesday against Oakland righty Jesse Hahn (2-3, 6.10 ERA). Villar, the MLB leader in stolen bases with 21, is a strong play on Wednesday.

Manny Machado, Orioles (4,900): This should go without saying, but we’ll say it anyway — make sure Machado isn’t suspended prior to Wednesday’s game. He’ll most likely be in the lineup, and if he is, he’s a solid play one day after charging the mound to rumble with Yordana Ventura. Machado is hitting .315 against right-handers this season, and Kansas City is starting righty Edinson Volquez (5-5, 4.03 ERA) on Wednesday.

High Value

Xander Bogaerts, Red Sox (3,900): We’re used to seeing Bogaerts priced in the 5,000-plus range, not 3,900. His matchup with San Francisco Giants ace Madison Bumgarner is the obvious reason for the price drop. But let’s not forget that Bogaerts, the AL batting average leader (.346), is hitting an absurd .464 against lefties. Bogaerts, especially at this price, is worth some DFS love.

Trevor Story, Rockies (3,900): Much like Bogaerts, Story’s price has dropped due to his matchup with Los Angeles Dodgers rookie right-hander Kenta Maeda (5-3, 2.84 ERA). But Story’s raw power (16 home runs overall, 11 against righties) makes him a reasonable DFS play virtually every night.
