Identifying the top high salary and value third base plays from around Major League Baseball for your June 8 DraftKings lineup.
Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.
As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.
High Salary
Matt Carpenter, Cardinals (5,300): Where to start with Carpenter? Let’s see, he has 15 hits over his last seven games, including the last four straight. Over that stretch he’s reached double digits in fantasy points five times. And he’s 4-for-12 in his career against Cincinnati Reds righty Alfredo Simon. Carpenter is an elite play.
Kris Bryant, Cubs (4,800): The ultra-talented Bryant is heating up. He’s hit safely in three straight games and 12 of his last 14 games overall. He’s 2-for-3 against Vince Velasquez, who could be in for a tough outing Wednesday against a dangerous Cubs lineup. Bryant will come cheaper than Carpenter or Evan Longoria, but his upside is higher.
High Value
Nick Castellanos, Tigers (3,500): Castellanos is having a nice season (.311, 10 HRs, 33 RBIs), but he’s been relatively quiet lately. He has three hits in his last three games, but no home runs since May 27. That trend will eventually flip, and it could happen as soon as Wednesday, if the Tigers’ offense does some damage against knuckleballer R.A. Dickey.
Chase Headley, Yankees (3,100): Headley has bounced back from his dreadful start to the season, but he’s gone hitless in the first two of the series against the Los Angeles Angels. Prior to this series, he had hit in four straight and five of six overall. Headley is an interesting play against Jered Weaver (5-4, 5.18 ERA), whose production no longer matches his name reputation.
