DraftKings Late MLB picks for June 8

The late tournament tonight has 11 games, which still gives us a lot of options to choose from. Who are the best ones? Let’s check out the past stats.

More from DraftKings

NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. The highest scorer of the day could be someone with no experience against his opponent. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players.

Jesse Hahn has never faced the Brewers, and though this looks like a good matchup, Hahn is coming off of the worst outing of his career against the Astros. Will he recover?

The worst kept secret in baseball is that the Pirates are going to call up Jameson Taillon to start against the Mets tonight. While we don’t really know what to expect in his debut, the Mets do strike out a lot. He could be worth a look if you like to gamble!

Best Bets:

David Price ($9,400): Price has held the Giants to a .211 average in 57 at bats with two homers, five RBI, and a nice 15 strikeouts. One of those homers was hit by Hunter Pence, who is on the disabled list. The stats clearly point to Price as the front-runner tonight.

Max Scherzer ($13,300):Ā Scherzer doesn’t quite have the dominant stats that you want for this kind of cash, but he is still capable of ringing up a lot of hitters, maximizing his value in daily leagues. The White Sox are only hitting .228 against Scherzer in 57 at bats with two homers, seven RBI, and 14 strikeouts. His ceiling is as high or higher than anyone’s.

Honorable Mention:

Kenta Maeda ($7,500): Maeda was brilliant at Coors Field back on April 23, going 6.1 shutout innings while striking out eight in the win. This one is at home, but Maeda has seen his ERA regress since April, and only had one quality start in May, mostly because he didn’t pitch deep enough into the game. That is a risk here as well, but you know the strikeouts are going to be there, and there is a good chance that the win will be as well.

Taijuan Walker ($6,800):Ā Walker’s 2-6 record is not indicative of how he has pitched. A 3.94 ERA and 1.25 WHIP are not great, but they are better than that! At any rate, Walker has breezed through the Indians so far. The Tribe are hitting only .173 off of Walker in 52 at bats with only one run and 13 strikeouts. This looks like a great opportunity for Walker to shine.

Dark Horse:

Chris Rusin ($5,000): Rusin has held the Dodgers to a .188 average in 48 at bats so far. He has only struck out eight and given up five runs, but those are very good numbers at this price, if he can keep it up.

Next: Who Are The Best Stacks?

You have heard our FanDuel experts Matt Rogers and Brian Tulloch talk about ā€œstackingā€ pieces of a lineup against certain pitchers. Here are the stacks that could work well on DraftKings today, based on past statistics.

Robinson Cano ($4,000) is 5-11(.455) with a walk, two doubles, a homer, and four RBI against Carlos Carrasco. Kyle Seager ($3,900) is 2-3 with a solo homer against Carrasco. Nelson Cruz ($3,600) could also be worth a look. Cruz is 3-11 with two doubles.

You might want to stack Cardinals against Alfredo Simon, who has given up 21 runs in his last four starts. Matt Adams ($3,900) is 3-10 with a walk, two doubles, a homer, and three RBI against Simon. Brandon Moss ($4,100) is also 3-10 with a homer and four RBI. Matt Carpenter ($5,300) is 4-12 withĀ twoĀ walks, a double, and two RBI. Randal Grichuk ($4,100) is 2-4 with a double, a homer, and a pair of RBI already against Simon. Kolten Wong only has one hit in 12 at bats, but, you guessed it, it was a home run.

The Yankees are in an offensive funk, but they have hit Jered Weaver hard. It may still be worth stacking. Carlos Beltran ($4,300) is 2-6 off Weaver, and both hits are solo homers. Jacoby Ellsbury ($4,300) is 7-27(.259) with a double and a solo homer. Alex Rodriguez ($3,600) is 11-29(.379) with six walks, two doubles, five homers, and eight RBI off Weaver. Weaver is glad that Dustin Ackley and Mark Teixeira are on the DL. Combined, they are 19-68 with six homers and 13 RBI off Weaver.

Doug Fister is glad that he doesn’t have to face Shin-Soo Choo, who has clubbed two homers off of him, but there are other Rangers that could do damage. Adrian Beltre ($4,300) is 9-26(.346) with two doubles and four RBI. Prince Fielder ($3,400) is 3-5 with a double and a solo homer. Rougned Odor ($4,300) is 2-5 with a double, a homer, and three RBI against Fister.

It’s no secret that the Twins hit lefties hard, so a stack against Wei-Yin Chen shouldn’t come as a surprise. Brian Dozier ($3,900) is 6-16(.375) with a walk and a solo homer. Robbie Grossman is still a bargain at $2,900, and is 3-5 with a double against Chen. Joe Mauer ($4,100) is 6-17(.353) with a walk, a double, and a RBI. Trevor Plouffe ($3,400) is only 4-16, but he has a walk, two doubles, a homer, and four RBI off of Chen.

Next: More Notes For 6-7

With Alex Gordon and Mike Moustakas out, there go three of the five home runs that the Roylas have hit off of Chris Tillman. Salvador Perez ($3,900) is 3-11 with a homer and four RBI against Tillman. Paulo Orlando has a two run homer in his two at bats against Tillman.

Avisail Garcia ($2,500) is only 2-9 against Max Scherzer, but those hits are a triple and a homer, and he has driven in four runs.

The only Red Sox players that Madison Bumgarner has faced used to be in his division. Josh Rutledge ($2,000) is 8-21(.381) with two walks, a double, a triple, a homer, and three RBI off MadBum. Chris Young ($2,500) is 7-20 with four walks, two doubles, a homer, and three RBI. These could be two great option on the cheap if they play.

Buster Posey ($3,600) is 3-7 with a solo homer against David Price. He may be worth playing if he is in the lineup.

Colby Rasmus ($3,200) is 7-15(.467) with a double, a triple, a homer, and three RBI against Yu Darvish. The only other current Astro to drive in a run against Darvish is Jon Singleton, who is currently in the minors.

Play Adam Jones ($4,300) tonight. Jones is 4-9 with two homers and three RBI off of Edinson Volquez.

Brandon Phillips ($3,700) has abused Jaime Garcia in his career. Phillips is 15-48(.313) with a walk, four doubles, two homers, and 11 RBI off of Garcia. Joey Votto ($4,700) is 12-35(.343) with seven walks, three doubles, a homer, and six RBI against Garcia.

Ricky Nolasco has never faced his former team, the Marlins, but he has faced Martin Prado ($3,200) plenty when Prado was with the Braves. It didn’t always end well for Nolasco. Prado is 18-51(.353) with a walk, two doubles, two triples, and nine RBI against Nolasco.

Wilson Ramos ($4,000) will look to spoil James Shieldsā€˜ White Sox debut. Ramos is 1-2 with a homer against Shields. Stephen Drew ($2,600) will look to do the same if he makes it into the lineup. Drew is 7-17(.412) with two doubles and a solo homer against Shields.
