1. Boston Bruins

Playing for your hometown team is a rare opportunity for athletes. That’s an opportunity that Boston native Keith Yandle will have this offseason when the Boston Bruins inevitably pursue him. Boston desperately needs to add a top four defenseman this offseason. Yandle would be a great free agent target for them even if they make a trade for one as well.

With Zdeno Chara and Dennis Seidenberg both showing their age over the past two seasons, the Bruins need to get younger. Yandle doesn’t turn 30 until September, meaning that he likely has at least two or three productive years left in him. Bruins general manager Don Sweeney will not derelict his duties by not addressing the blue line after not doing so last offseason.

Keith Yandle would be a great second or first pairing option for the Bruins. With Torey Krug, the Bruins could feature an excellent and productive puck mover on each of the first two defensive pairings. That’s certainly a good way to start rebuilding your blue line. There would be more moves needed to be done in order to fix the blue line (naming trading a few of their surplus and overpaid defensemen), but signing Yandle would help the Bruins immediately contend in 2016-17.
