Los Angeles Clippers forward Paul Pierce is soon going to be the owner of an amazing trademark.

Ever since the Los Angeles Clippers were eliminated from the NBA Playoffs, Paul Pierce has gotten some exposure by being on set for ABC’s coverage of the 2016 NBA Finals as a guest analyst.

Pierce has done a great job through the first two games and has been one of the better current players they have brought aboard.

While Pierce is stretching his legs as an analyst for the future, he’s also working on branding too. According to ESPN’s Darren Rovell, Pierce filed for the trademark “I Called Game” and soon should become the owner of that trademark.

Trademarking phrases is nothing new and is something many companies try to do to further increase their brand. While Pierce still has two years left on his contract, it’s clear that he’s already thinking ahead to a future beyond basketball.

As for the strength of the phrase that he’s attempting to trademark, that remains to be seen. Many of the top athletic brands have often featured common basketball phrases on their clothing, so it makes sense that Pierce is going to try to do the same thing.

The only question is whether or not Pierce can be as clutch in the business world as he was on the floor.
